Do you have quality control team, retouch team, post-production quality control team?

There are very specific needs to big workflows on image production.

I would like to have contacts with people that are dealing this same issues over large production teams.

When the images are so many, and the quality must rise as well, the photo editing team members does not have time to process and prepare the images to be edited (re-shoots to be made, etc).

In my case, we manage more than 16 teams and 4 of them have to be intrinsically well connected, having the information location not spread around, but in the write places to the right people.

  • studios/photographers team (stills, livemodel, etc)
  • quality control checkIn
  • photo editing
  • quality control checkOut

One of the late successes I had regarding this, was a script for the photo-editing team on Photoshop.

When a editor finds a problem within an image and wants to communicate it to the photographer, suggesting better efficiency on the pixels captured on a specific image, he just have to use this script.

  1. the editor creates notes on the opened images putting the icon over the precise place, and adding a its comment. Each image can have several comments.
  2. then, the script detects all the images that have the same folder origin (each folder represents a product, in our case)
  3. a icon dialog with all the images previews is opened to ask witch images to send to photographers.
  4. it exports all the selected images containing all the notes icons and the associated texts to a PDF (it uses photoshop inner script)
  5. at this moment acrobat reader will automatically opens and gives user access to fill in more comments or design more areas over each image. It saves again. That's it.
  6. The photographers can respond to each note individually, addressing it an approval, rejection, sugestion, etc. the comunication has 2 ways and it is putted in the wright place.
  7. If I want to print a pdf with commented located notes (some time is better), I just use print dialog to create the legend pages containing all the texts associated to the images. Each printed image will than have a back page with all the legend.

I can't put here the script, because it is optimized to work under our production network system, but I send a 1 PDF created by it with some image examples (the pdf has 2 noted/commented pages/photos).

Just send me an email asking for the pdf example: pedro.marques@farfetch.com

This is only an example of what could be a big help for big teams, but there are others under Bridge or Photoshop
